Coming from the Greek word protos, which means “first” or “of prime importance” protein is of critical importance for your body to function properly.
Among other things protein does within the body is its used to maintain and create muscles, organs and most of your bodies other tissues.
Proteins are made of smaller molecules called amino acids which the body produces most of itself however we need to get some from the food we eat.
Most foods contain some protein even if that be a small amount but some good sources of protein include meat, fish, dairy products, eggs, nuts, seeds and legumes.
